I should be in bed but instead have just discovered Simple Mode in the Uber app, pitched as for “seniors” but in fact it’s a toggle which turns off the swathes of advertising other Uber services and makes the home page a search box for where you want to go and a list of saved locations. It also starts near instantly rather than spending several seconds downloading ad manifests.
