today is also the day of being tortured by roadworks directly outside of my window 24/7 (this is not an exaggeration, there is a line of sight to the works site and they are doing it actually around the clock)

i'm not actually sure if they finish today, but if they continue to jackhammer and drill at 1am for multiple days i'm going to lose it

@gsuberland @whitequark my experience is typically road work in downtown commercial areas or major highways is scheduled for the middle of the night when there's less traffic, and in residential areas during the day so as to not wake people up.

Maybe it's some kind of emergency repair they can't delay?

@whitequark if you've got the bandwidth for it I'd send a complaint to the council about it. even if they finish tonight it's a signal that they will get future backlash about granting work permits for night in that area. but appreciate that it's Yet Another Thing to do while being tired.

@gsuberland @whitequark I’ve had this happen before when living on a major road, I think they decided the disruption to residents was outweighed by the disruption of an extended closure on one of the core routes through the city.

@gsuberland oh they've been doing it for years like that. just, usually for no longer than one night and during night only. and not so loud
