Our fixed tariff ends in 2 weeks and I just got this quote and it's a whole THOUSAND POUNDS more expensive. YIKES. Is this .... to be expected? The off-peak rate is doubling in price :(
@CatherineFlick oof, do you have a solar battery yet? Might be starting to be lucrative.
@CatherineFlick I’d say it’s almost certainly worth looking the agile + agile-like tariffs depending what your energy use patterns look like and/or your ability to load shift into a battery.
@CatherineFlick you're pretty much moving to where we are. Your old deal looks very good!
@CatherineFlick If you fancy gambling on geopolitics then you could always go variable for a little while and then fix when there's a deal to your liking. Would I fancy taking that gamble? Today I might, can't guarantee how I'll feel about it tomorrow though...
@CatherineFlick On April 19th I changed from EoN EV v7 (was 4p off peak) to v16 tariff which is 6p off peak - today v24 quotes 9p. Yikes! I fear, yes, currently to be expected. Someone mentioned agile tariffs - my consumption is 99% off peak (batteries various) and no agile tariff gets close…
@jbenjamint It was, in retrospect!!
@CatherineFlick I’m on agile here in an all-electric flat, have neither solar or a battery, and end up paying significantly less anyway. Not sure how much of that is that I work from home so can easily time shift high usage things like running laundry to low cost times, and eat fairly late so I’m rarely using the oven/hob during peak periods.
@CatherineFlick I hope it helps!
