There is also no such thing as "sideloading" and "jailbreaking". You have a general-purpose CPU running some operating system, and you're installing software on it. Just because the OS-maker tries to lock it down so you only install *their* software doesn't make it right that they try to restrict how you use the device that you paid them for.
@Andres4NY I’m endlessly divided on this because I’d love to be able to do whatever I choose with my (iOS) phone, and yet at the same time I wouldn’t trust my Dad with the power to install arbitrary software on his phone for a minute, it would be riddled with malware harvesting his every move, word, and keystroke while he complains about how Apple have messed up battery management almost immediately.
@Andres4NY possibly the answer is that all devices should allow installation of any software you choose by default but also every family must nominate someone to be the family MDM administrator. They get to decide who’s authorised to just install software and who has to ask for approval first.
