@mmeier @homelab maybe this is stupid but what about creating files like Ethernet_cable_1m, Powerplug_x_watts and then have folders for each host.
So basically recreating the objects as files, hosts as folders.
This way you can even nest some things like “Proxmox cluster / node 1 / power….”

@stefan @homelab You know what, that does not actually sound at all stupid. You could even make e.g. separate storage locations with folders for stuff which isn't in use. And for the more interesting components like CPUs and such, the files themselves could also contain some details, like links to the product pages.

@stefan @homelab Yupp exactly, I've been thinking the same, stuff like "find" plus "wc" to figure out how many of a thing you have for example.
