@gsuberland if you enjoyed ds9, it's good, and the more trek you've seen (ds9, tos, tng, voy, even ent), will help
@gsuberland coincidentally I picked it up again at season 2 today after bouncing off at the end of season 1 ages ago. The first is (like all Trek) a bit rough, and a bit over keen on cooky fan service. 2 manages to get into being proper Star Trek with a wicked sense of humour.
@gsuberland I enjoyed it although it suffers some unnerving tropes but summarized I'd watch it again if it wasn't paywalled by Amazon recently

@tef @gsuberland more references than you can shake a stick at.. the level of detail is way beyond necessary. it's also the first time i've ever found a character in Star Trek relatable.
@tef I've seen most of TNG although it was forever ago, the odd episode of TOS, some DS9 (although I cannot stand Colm Meaney so pretty much all the "haha chief o'brian" stuff doesn't land for me), all of VOY, none of ENT, and the first couple seasons of Discovery.
@gsuberland you'll probably enjoy it but some of the lore will be new to you
@gsuberland a lot of the adoration comes from how it ties up loose ends of the canon, and there's a lot of homages to ds9 in specific, so given you never finished it you might find it a bit grating
especially the noodle arms, but the characterisation and plot is great even if some of the episodes are a bit cringey
@tef yeha some of that might be a bit lost on me. I probably remember enough of the big references (tribbles, Pon Farr, that weird addictive game from TNG, Grand Nagus, Bell Riots, etc.) to muddle my way through. as long as Keiko isn't in it I'll probably enjoy it.
