I once lost a job even though I did well at the interview, because when I left the lady said 'see you anon', and I'd never heard that before so I said 'sorry what?' and she said 'anon' and I said 'a what?' and she said 'a...never mind' and then they went with the other candidate.
@fesshole this could have been me. I had to look it up. What kind of stupid expression is this?
@fesshole Were you interviewing to replace Baldrick? Who says shit like that these days? 🤷🏻♂️
@fesshole it's meant to be a class signifyer when people use that sort of expression, "if you're one of us you'll understand." dick move yes.
@fesshole "See you on the flip side fellow /pol enjoyer" "Huh? What are you talking about?' cue them having to try and larp as a non racist
God I hate the internet
@fesshole I presume this is an assumption of why they chose the other candidate.
Or did they say, "We chose someone else because you didn't know the meaning of anon?"
I thought not.
@lhengstmengel @fesshole It might be UK-specific?
My parents used to say it now and again.
@chewie @lhengstmengel @fesshole it's used in Shakespeare, probably a bit of a middle -class signifier if people use it nowadays, dick move to penalise someone if they hadn't come across it before
@internetsdairy @chewie @lhengstmengel yeah it's very bougie. first heard it at 20 from some real poshos on a heritage site
@internetsdairy @chewie @lhengstmengel @fesshole Yes, they shouldn’t go on anon like that!
;)
