You kind of have to be a deep Star Trek fan to understand quite how funny Lower Decks is.
You need to understand the difference of Alpha and Beta canon to understand how incredible it was that they got the Alpha canon stick, kept within the broader rules, and dicked around as hard as they could.
@dave my favourite bit is the contortions it forces the Memory Alpha people into as they try to fit it into the wider canon.

The multiverse stuff (alt Bashir/alt Garak, cursed single nacelle Cerritos etc) being canon is the icing on the cake because it can be safely ignored by anyone who doesn't want it in the prime universe.
@Zendadaist YES. The Star Trek Space Fun Helmet coming into alpha canon was perhaps even better than Gashir becoming canon.
