Electric car makers trying to decide on the noise their cars should make at low speeds to warn pedestrians while also installing a default should also allow drivers to choose.
I'd like the Imperial March when below 10mph and March of the Valkyries for 10-20mph.
@anon_opin I'd like "Greensleeves". #EVs
@anon_opin Taycans sound a bit like a TIE Fighter. Which I don’t mind.
@anon_opin Some do, but I’m of the opinion that these sounds are largely pointless. Pedestrians step out in front of ordinary cars all the time despite the sound they make. At those low speeds, a silly humming noise is less effective than the driver putting a foot on the brake. What I would like however is in addition to the horn, a more gentle alert sound. A ‘hello, excuse me, thanks’, in conjunction to the horn’s ’hey, watch it!’
@anon_opin I was part of an agency team who pitched this to Nissan in 2010. Sadly it never went anywhere.
@anon_opin I want the sound of a late 80s TZR125 having the absolutely nuts revved off it.
Or the whirring of a Honda V4 with gear driven cams.
