@LewisWorkshop @idnorton I think the bike hire point is more relevant than busses that can carry bikes. Ubiquitous bike/scooter rental has transformed my city’s bus network for me because they make the perfect last mile hop from the nearest bus stop to my actual destination, and I’m not stuck with a bike to worry about when I make it to the pub.
@jon @idnorton if you're traveling alone, that's true. If you're carrying children or cargo then you'll likely have a pile of stuff with you strapped to the bike in addition to the child seat - it's less easy to transfer stuff between bikes. Even if you have a removable trailer suitable for kids, then you'd need to have the right sort of fitting on the bike and the extra weight might stress a hire bike's brakes. Also, carrying kids, I'd want to be sure the bike I'm on is well maintained.
