Not carnivorous but very poisonous plant that seems to colocate with pitchers...

I finally identified these beautiful flowering racemes that remind me of skyrockets going up. Stenanthium densum known as "Osceola's Plume" or "Crowpoison" (because they are actually very poisonous). The flowers bloom from the base upward. As they age they turn pink and finally maroon. This is a very nice visual effect!

I'm very happy to have a pair of Bryonia dioica plants in the garden. The wet weather made the vines wither early but the berries ripened anyway. Now birds, especially a #blackcap arrives, sings a bit, picks a red berry and then flies off to feed its young. Yes, it's poisonous for humans but it's a boon for them. Let's hope that the droppings fall at the right place. These birds normally feed on insects. A good deal for #gardening. #nature #flowers #bryonia #birds #blackcap

My birdbath garden at mom's old cottage. Bumblebees loved the globe thistle, fritillary butterflies swarmed the coneflowers, and the red bee-balm was guaranteed to draw ruby-throat hummingbirds. There's a serviceberry tree to the left of the glider and a witch hazel tree in the border behind it. A mail-order ginseng plant liked this location and reseeded itself. Photo by my mom.
