@emaste and other people who use FreeBSD Discord, but not every day:
– is the thread feature useful?
For focus, and so on.
An example: <https://discord.com/channels/727023752348434432/1304697488640446464/1304697496978718781> at the beginning of the thread for 'Ludwig – the FreeBSD Laptop and Desktop Working Group (LDWG)', in the desktop channel. There's a link to the LDWG page in the FreeBSD wiki.
The alternative would be all LDWG chat – plus all other chat from all other topical threads – interspersed (mashed) with all other desktop chat at the top level of the desktop channel, <https://discord.com/channels/727023752348434432/831066226074976267>.
The thread feature was introduced in 2021. Usability and discoverability have improved since then.
A hint, for users of mobile e.g. iPad0S:
― long-press (press and hold) a channel to show its context menu.
If a thread exists, the menu will include 'Threads'.
