I *think* that #TIL that #HAProxy's stick-table synchronisation between multiple peers is pretty flawed, if you're trying to use it for multi-node rate limiting: stats are *not* aggregated. To quote the manual:

> Each instance pushes its local updates and insertions to remote peers.
> The pushed values overwrite remote ones without aggregation.

I've not used HAP in a while (I'm getting started again!), but is this news to any other HAP admins? #SysAdmin #DevOps

Is there a #CLI tool that helps binary-search/bisect towards finding the cause of a problem, but *outside* git?

For example: I've got a data file that's successfully processed by v1 of a command, but v200 fails. I can hack my way towards a script that tries out v100, and use that result to manually choose to test with v50/v150, and so on.

But is there tooling out there that can help wrap up that binary-search workflow? #SysAdmin #DevOps #SRE #DataScience #BinarySearch #Bisect

I'm a senior #devops engineer, runner and #minimalist.

I'm interested in #aws, #linux, #kubernetes, #serverless and adjacent topics. I've been in the industry, as they say, for over 17 years now. I'm getting old.

I do some #running and #rowing for a bit of physical exercise. I really like computers so I need to sometimes touch grass.

I'm reactivating this account in light of the recent news from the bird app, not sure why I ever stopped using it my account here seems so much more upbeat than the other place.

So as a way of re #introduction I've worked in the area of #sysadmin and #devops for many years now, since I last posted my focus is now focused on Cloud rather than Linux. Since I last posted I've lost weight and then put it all back on, got married but I'm still bemused by politics especially of my home, the UK.

Background: Perforce bought Puppet in 2022, betrayed the #FOSS community and changed the license. This resulted in a #fork called #OpenVoxProject, but old puppet releases still worked, so many #DevOps did not care enough to switch.

Yesterday the release key for the free puppet packages expired. It is unlikely that they will renew those keys.

It's time to move on. https://voxpupuli.org/openvox/ is a drop-in replacement. #FOSS saved the day again!

My employer is continuing to pursue increased sales to the US government, so for ethical reasons I'm fully on the job market now.

I am an experienced #devOps engineer, having worked exclusively with #AWS. I have extensive experience in #terraform and #openTofu with significant #Ansible work as well. I've used the full alphabet soup of AWS services: VPC, EC2, S3, ACM, KMS, IAM, RDS, Route53, SNS, SES, SQS, WAF, and many more. I also am familiar with the various monitoring, alerting, and on-call platforms, most notably CloudWatch, DataDog, and Pager Duty. I also have management and project management experience, leading teams and projects at the application and architectural levels.

I do not, unfortunately, have experience with K8s or EKS, so any potential position would need to accept a ramp-up time if those are part of the infrastructure ecosystem. I am a fast learner, and I have a solid engineering expertise to build off of.

My primary need is a fully #remote position for family reasons. As my profile states, I am based in the Twin Cities area in US Central time. I am fully authorized to work in the US without employer support.
