Is it possible to publish an #OpenSource #iPhone|#iPad #app to the #Apple #AppStore in a way where a consumer can validate that the published source code was used to create the app?
An app developer can assert that release 1.2.3 in the App Store matches git tag 1.2.3; and a motivated consumer can even build the app themselves - but is there any way for a developer to arrange things so there's concrete evidence that the tag matches the specific app that's released?

I'm deeply passionate about and experienced with Apple tech. I also love Sci-Fi and Fantasy, mostly TV and movies these days. I'm a gamer, mostly playing on Mac, iPad, and Switch. Update your #Apple devices ASAP. Two vulnerabilities, CVE-2025-31200 and CVE-2025-31201, have been fixed: https://support.apple.com/en-us/122282
"Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on iOS."
While iOS has been known to be targeted, the fixes are available for all Apple devices and should be installed as soon as possible.

My games Ball2Box, Pocket Broomball and Sn4ke will be removed from the Apple Appstore by the end of April.
They are licensed
under AGPLv3 and this license is incompatible with the Apple Appstore, because the ToS of the store put additional restrictions on the rights of the users.
I guess the only way to release my games to iOS will be trough alt stores, but I don't know if they are incompatible with copy left licenses too.

BREAKING: The UK government's attempt to hold the Apple encryption case entirely in secret has been REJECTED.
ORG, Big Brother Watch and Index on Censorship made a submission to the court arguing for open justice.
In a win for privacy rights, the court agrees.
It said it didn't accept “that the revelation of the bare details of the case would be damaging to the public interest or prejudicial to national security”.

Alright developers, what would you consider to be a reasonably amount of RAM for a new MacBook (Air or Pro) for web development?
I won’t use it for AI stuff, but yes Docker and a few Electron apps.
I want it to last me five years at least.
My initial observation was 32 GB, but that might be overkill.
(I currently use a late 2020 MB Air, M1, 16 GB RAM, which is still pretty OK but showing its age)

Siempre se ha dicho, y es cierto, que hoy #Apple tiene capacidad para contratar empleados para cada área de desarrollo.
También es cierto que cada proyecto de Hardware o Software retrasa a otros porque todos se mueven en conjunto a crear o evolucionar, desde Jobs ha sido así y se explicaba porque eran pequeños, y aún con Jobs, y la Apple “grande”, se mantuvo esta filosofía.

I’ve been using #Apple’s shared #Photos albums for years (but even now know nobody else doing so!) — I like being able to share them securely with other Apple users.
Unfortunately, the fruit company is showing no signs of making that functionality interoperable 🤬

Alongside the joint letter from ORG, Big Brother Watch and Index on Censorship, UK MPs, US Congress Members and the BBC want the secrecy to end.

Good stuff! But, I think he’s overthinking it. What happened was, Board-level people and Wall Street both yelled the same thing at Tim Cook: “Make grandiose AI announcements or your share price goes down.” In 2025 capitalism, those voices can’t be ignored or resisted. So they made the announcement.
Also, good on Apple for declining to ship a shit product under the Apple Intelligence brand.

I like how Apple needs to harass me into upgrading macOS now. I was a super fan, like I used to order the OS X upgrade disk and then carefully keep It after I was done. I pirated the OS X beta back in the day. I used to buy @siracusa OS X reviews on Kindle so I could really sit back and absorb every detail.
Now I dread MacOS upgrades so much I will wait until they have dropped my current OS from security updates before I hit the big red button. Every time I seem to pick up some new strange behavior and lose something that used to work. Somehow we even broke Preview where it seems to close the file when I minimize it to the Dock roughly 50% of the time.
My needs are so basic. I work primarily off a web browser, terminal, email client and container management system. Even then I hit weird edge cases. I cannot imagine if I was a MacOS super user how frustrating this inconsistent yearly release cycle would be. #apple #mac #macos
