Anyone have advice re small handbook or app for #birds in #China? Also, would love some advice re #binoculars. I'm not traveling light, but don't want a super heavy set.

@mtechman Last I knew, the Very Best bins are the Swarovski top-of-the-line, but they're also more massive than not.
Minox X-HD (I have the ancestral APO HD) are smaller and lighter at the cost of half a very small line on a Snellen chart.
Many people have a lot of good things to say about Nikon Monarchs. (nigh-optimal point on the price/performance curve)
Harness style supports are much superior to neck straps, more or less no matter what binocular is being used.

(If at all possible, borrow/look through etc. as many pairs as you can, too. Not all the manufactures have the focus turn the same way, and this can be Very Annoying if your reflexes and these specific bins disagree, no matter how good the bins are technically.)
