Saw this curious little fellow on the patio this afternoon. It was scuttling so quickly, I couldn’t get a great picture 🤷♂️
iNaturalist reckons it’s a rove beetle (Tribe Staphylinini) of some kind. That’s a huge family of >66,000 species dating back 200 million years, but further searching suggests possibly Tagius ater or Tagius melanarius 🤨
Anyone else have a better ID? Location is just to the east of Heidelberg 🇩🇪
