A couple of things I'm planning to make with the laser cutter this afternoon.
1. A panel for the comb switch array module I made recently. Slightly chaotic layout but think it should look nice. I'm going to try acetal for the first time, would intrigued to see how that will look with the engraved text.
2. A record with holes for putting ballbearings in, to sequence the comb array. Each concentric circle has a prime number of holes, so they only line up once per cycle. The ultimate polyrhythm sequencer? Or something that's impossible to make sound coherent? Only one way to find out.

@grahamdunning I have got on well with lasercut acetal, but you won't want to breathe too much of the fumes.
@jarkman yeah worked well. A little melty on very thin sections.
Also tried some "Tufnol" which didn't want to cut at all. Shame cos I liked its stiffness and colour, but basically burnt and stayed solid.
@grahamdunning Looks good! Oh, yes, meltier than acrylic for sure. But a lot stronger, I use it for mechanical stuff quite a bit.
Best bet for Tufnol might be to lasercut a template and use it with drills & a router.
@jarkman the uni technician suggested a water jet cutter, but I don't really have time to get familiar with a new machine right now. A shame cos the etched (burnt) lettering looked really cool.
@grahamdunning It would be interesting to see what a waterjet would do for sure.
In case it's useful, this is an example of what acetal will do that acrylic won't.
@jarkman oof, that's fantastic. I'm mainly using acetal as Sam has been singing its praises, which I expect is somewhat through your encouragement!
@grahamdunning :-) Probably.
