The crack vanished. Even more, the pot looked like new. The glaze was absolutely flawless.
Elsbeth looked down at Wherefore. โDid you do that?โ
The kitten looked up at her, blinking sleepily.
โWell, you must have done something.โ
Out of the corner of her eye, Elsbeth caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror, her hair fading from ginger back to blond.
Orange cat, orange hair.
And hadnโt Colin said something about green eyes?
She walked over to the mirror and examined herself. No. Blond and blue-eyed, just as she had been her entire life.
โCome here kitty.โ She picked up the kitten, cradling her in her arms, and looked in the mirror again.
Nothing.
โAlright, how about a bit of magic, then?โ She concentrated on repairing the faded silvering around the edges of the mirror.
As the mirror rejuvenated itself, Elsbeth noticed a transformation in herself as well. Her dirty blond hair turned ginger, untangling itself as it did.
