The geometry of this city map was too tricky to draw by eye alone, so I started by modelling the main cutaway cone and the tricky central spiral path in Blender, a 3d design package. And I’m glad I did, I’ve spent hours trying to get spiral staircases right when drawing them in the past, they are more tricky than you might think. It also allowed me to get the nice low angle of view just right. Map was for Darci Cole‘s fantasy romance novel. #Cartography
