@rixx I have set up a few automations for reoccurring tasks that trigger at certain points in time (e.g. monthly) and send me notifications within #homeassistant.
Simple and effective.

@abulling It’s really the "repeat after completion" thing that doesn’t work well that way (plus I don’t really want to manage ~20 automations each with their own variables, but I also don’t want to do a bunch of things every time a new month starts, which is kinda the worst time for it).
@abulling Sure. But not everything is a monthly task, and if I put off a monthly task for two weeks, I don't need a reminder another two weeks later.
@rixx I see - you need something more flexible/adaptable than the automation approach.
@rixx @abulling I have a few critical recurring tasks I have to do (#T1D, change my infusion set every 3 days) & I am HORRIBLE at a) remembering & b) doing it on time. I set a recurring reminder on my phone & a shortcut to trigger on a voice command; now when I complete the task, it grabs that task, changes the due date to today, & marks it complete so it’ll trigger again in 3 days. The task & the automation can be shared, but each would need to be customized.
