One of the things that fascinates me from the #stargate film props, is how little they cared about the model of the gate doing a traveling close up that absolutely shows the seam lines and pattern mismatch.

@Nixie the first attempt at filming the gate activation with the water tank probably cost them a pretty penny in waterlogged equipment.
quote from the VFX lead: "We didn’t know how much air pressure to set the cannon on but it went from one to 500lbs, so we said ‘Let’s try 100 – start the camera rolling and hit the thing.’ It evacuated all the water out of the tank and onto the camera and everybody. It turned out that 1lb was about the right amount."
