The best meat for roasting on Christmas is goose. Turkey is the worst. Turkey is an import from the USA, it's not a naturally British meat. Goose is the traditional British bird for Christmas dinner.
@anon_opin Now it's usually just me and my Mum actually eating the Christmas bird (wife's vegetatian and kids are refuseniks and we see the rest of the fam on Boxing Day), I agree. Not because of some idea of British tradition but because Turkeys are too big, too dry and too expensive. Get a goose - they're delicious.
